Tad Dickel, the author of Strategic Planning for Catholic Parishes, wanted to illustrate the idea of one entity (the church) made up of many individuals (church members). The icon for the Catholic church was shown made up of a mosaic of individuals in orange, red, and yellow shirts. A classic treatment of traditional typography paired with bold colors and the mosaic icon conveyed the movement from past conventions to new approaches.
